Introduction

I have created a body of work called Composite Flowers. These are prints of digitally manipulated photographs of flowers. Portions of flowers are cropped and altered in the computer to create a new image, a new flower that does not exist in the world. This work speaks about our culture of 'beautiful isn't good enough' and how we try to improve something that is already beautiful, like a flower.

Composite Flowers is about our need to change something that is already beautiful, the use of technology and the 'before and after world' that we live in. With the rise of reality shows on make-overs, interior design, fashion, radical plastic surgery, going as far as genetic engineer and cloning, these art ideas are very timely. These composite flowers are beautiful and dramatic and make a statement about technology creating improvements/disasters in our daily existence.

I am using this imagery as the main motif for my website, as it beholds kaleidoscopic properties and because these images are just so pretty...
