TEXT-ING has appeared as public interventions, a pangram, text messages, and general pillow play since 2007. In a time in which text messaging is a direct and common form of instant communication, TEXT-ING as a sculptural project is a much appreciated diversion in our relationship to text. TEXT-ING is currently being used in the exhibition Ligaments and Ligatures to spell the longest word in the English language: pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. This word refers to a lung disease brought on by the inhalation of volvanic ash. By referencing a lung disease, this word ties together TEXT-ing with a concurrent project that explored organs and organisms
